News: Commission Management System is effective starting October 1'st, 2009.

What is Commission Management System?

metaLIFE Commission Management System is designed to help Merchants, Brand owners and Affiliates - make money in Second Life.

The System allows:

• Merchant - to set commissions - this way you can motivate both Affiliates and Brand owners to sell your items for you
• Consolidating Brand owner - negotiate your commission with your merchants, making your work on the Brand worthy of your time
• Affiliate - to choose quality brands or items paying best commission and sell them on your Land

Every item listed via metaLIFE is instantly sold on both places:  on the Web plus inworld across the whole Grid-wide Marketplace: 

• Via rapidly growing Grid-wide network of Vendors (owned by affiliates)
• via Vendors owned by merchants (0% commissions for sales via own vendors)
• via Branded Vendors (Vendors owned by Affiliates but assigned to certain Brand)
• via Network of metaHUD's
• via the web marketplace (0% commissions for sales on web)

Each case requires slightly custom calculation of Commissions.

The Basics

The Goal is to create a healthy ecosystem where merchants, affiliates, brand owners and metaLIFE could work together toward common goals!

Commission System is designed to share commission with everybody participating in the sale:

• The Merchant - The Content Creator
• Affiliate Vendor Owner - Person who owns a vendor and sells items via it
• Brand Owner - Person who owns and manages Consolidating Brand
• metaLIFE - Company developing and supporting this Grid-Wide Marketplace

Deeper explanation of all participant roles and commissions:

• Merchant: If I sell my items via Vendor I own - its FREE,  merchant takes all 100%, metaLIFE and affiliates get NO commission for these sales.
• Affiliate Vendor Owner: When an affiliate rezzes a vendor and sells an item - he(she) gets Affiliate Vendor Owner commission set by the merchant(Vendor owner .
• Consolidating Brand Owner:  This commission is payed to a brand owner.This takes affect when a sale is happening via metaVENDOR which is branded and does not belong to merchant of an item being sold!
• metaLIFE:  For web sales - metaLIFE Takes NO commission, for INWORLD extra sales, meaning not via merchant owned vendor, metaLIFE commission is constant at 10%. We also take nothing if merchant is selling items via own metaVENDORs
• Web Sales: are FREE - metaLIFE takes 0% commission. In cases when Customer was referred by someone - 5% commission is given to the referrer of a Customer! If customer has no Referrer - all 100% goes to the Merchant!

Case 1: No Commission - all 100% goes to Seller

If you just sell your items at your own store using metaVENDOR  - this is absolutely FREE, you keep all 100%, so take it and use all the benefits of probably the most advanced, fast and user-friendly vending system available in Second Life, and this will cost you nothing!

If you are selling your items on the website - also it's absolutely FREE as well, you keep all 100%! (check Case 5 for exception)

metaLIFE believes in RESULTS! Both metaLIFE and affiliates will get paid only when you get extra sales across Grid-Wide marketplace. So take metaVENDOR for Free and keep all 100% for sales in your own store while making extra income for sales across Grid-Wide marketplace!

Both metaLIFE and Affiliates will OLNY get commission when Grid-Wide marketplace kicks in and brings merchant extra sales, put in other words - when your items are sold elsewhere. This is where Commission System starts to work - for each Grid-Wide sale we will share commission with people who helped with the sale: people rezing vendors on their land selling your items, people referring shoppers to metaLIFE, Brand owners managing and growing brands etc.. This is how we are hoping to create a healthy ecosystem where many people have incentive to work towards common goals and make money doing this!

Case 2: Seller Shares 40% with Affiliates

Commission Management System allows Merchant to set Affiliate Commissions. This Example shows you how merchant is sharing 40% with Affiliates, where 30% goes to Vendor owner, and 10% goes to Brand owner.

Exception: in case metaVENDOR is not Branded then Vendor owner will get all 40% instead of 30%

Case 3: 10% goes to Brand Owner

metaLIFE technology allows creation and management of Consolidating brand - Some Brands consolidate multiple Merchants under one brand, this way reaching to many more affiliates selling items listed under this brand - these are called Consolidating Brand. 

In that case Brand owner has to various work managing the Brand : Working with new merchants of the brand, expanding the affiliate network, searching for quality relevant merchants to join the brand etc.. All this work is important if brand wants to grow in quantity of affiliates and quality of content and it must be compensated, so Brand owner will get a commission for EACH sale happening via their owned Brand!

Case 4:  Seller Shares 40% with Vendor owner

In this case Seller only is listing items at their own Brands and has no need to compensate Brand owner(himself) so only shares commission with Affiliate Vendor owners - selling seller items giving 40% commission.

Case 5:  Selling item on WEB, when customer was referred by someone

On Web sales metaLIFE takes NO commission! Yet when a customer who was referred by someone (referrer) the referrer is compensated with 5% commission, rest 95% goes to Merchant.

Case 6:  Selling item on WEB, when customer was NOT referred anyone

On Web sales metaLIFE takes NO commission! And since Customer was not referred by anyone - all 100% goes to Merchant!

 metaLIFE takes NO commission for sales via network of metaHUD's or via web marketplace, only customer referrer (if existing) will get 5% commission for such sales.
