Commissions on your own metaVENDORs?
Eren Padar had brought up a point to me either today about how the metaVENDORs allow their owners to get commissions from the things they buy themselves. Not all affiliate vendors desire this, because it makes them feel cheated. But for some, they want to allow this because they feel "A sale is a sale, and a discount encourages sales".
However, Eren and I both agree that merchants should be able to choose whether or not metaVENDOR owners receive a commission when they buy products from their own metaVENDORs. If this option is enabled, then the vendor's owner would not receive a commission when buying someone else's products from their own metaVENDOR. As well, they would not receive the commission if someone else buys the item as a gift for them.
As well, if this feature were implemented, we would need to decide on a default: allow discounts, or disallow discounts? Eren Padar and I vote in favor of not allowing discounts.
Clarification: The abuse spoken of is someone acquring a metaVENDOR just to get a discount on everything, rather than become an actual metaBRAND affiliate.
I vote in favor of having the option available.
Personally, I don't mind. Giving them a discount is better than getting it free via exploits or copybot but the options is nice for those who wants it. Give merchants an option so to speak.
Personally, I don't mind. I'd rather give a discount/commission than have my work copybotted.
yes we know of this wish for some time now, and definitely will be something to be done when we can..
Thanks
P.S. : So if I take it right you want default option to be: not to give discount to your affiliates
I'd also like it to be optional. Some of my affiliates have purchased the goods through the vendor and that's fine with me, I know they didn't do it just for the discount because they still have the vendors up and running many weeks later.

I agree, Zauber. It does seem rather open to possible abuse. The fix you suggested above seems entirely plausible to me too.
Personally, I always prefer things along those lines to be opt-in, rather than opt-out too.
In short, consider this a +1 vote for all of your points.
